Farmers are facing increasing volatility and extreme weather, resulting in more challenging harvests. With AgHorizon, farmers gain actionable insights into how the changing climate will impact them directly. By entering their postcode and crop information, they can view climate forecasts, yield projections, and tailored adaptation recommendations, all specific to their location.
Why use AgHorizon?
Forecast climate impacts on yields
The most advanced climate science combined with deep agronomic expertise to show how crop growth cycles will be affected at key times of the year.
Assess extreme weather risks
Understand how previously rare extreme weather events may increase in frequency and impact crop returns.
Evaluate adaptation measures
Discover economic returns of various adaptation strategies tailored to your crops and farm location.
What does AGHorizon provide?
By entering their postcode, farmers can access climate, yield, and adaptation insights tailored to their crops and location. AgHorizon offers:
- Climate Projections: Shows future climate trends based on agronomically relevant indicators and time periods, such as October-July for winter wheat.
- Yield and Revenue Impacts: Projects effects on yield and revenue, with focus on extreme weather years that pose high risk to farmers.
- Adaptation Strategies: Prioritizes six categories of adaptation practices, customized by crop and location, and assessed against potential yield and revenue impacts from extreme weather.

Frequently Asked Questions
Why should I use AgHorizon?
If you are concerned about maintaining your farm’s profitability as the weather becomes more volatile, AgHorizon leverages the most advanced climate science and deep agronomic expertise to provide actionable insights. The data is specific to your crops and your location. Currently, data resolution is set at 8km x 8km, with plans to increase granularity even further in future updates.
Where does the data come from?
Finres only uses data from reputable and verified sources. Full details on data and methodology are accessible within AgHorizon. Data sources for the French version of AgHorizon include Météo-France, Agreste, the National Institute of Statistics and Economic Studies, the World Data Centre for Soils, and peer-reviewed studies assessing the impact of different climate conditions and adaptation measures across thousands of farms.
How robust are the results?
Recognising the inherent uncertainty associated with the climate, AgHorizon runs millions of simulations for each farm to understand the probabilities associated with how different climate pathways will affect crops in a specific location. AgHorizon utilizes state-of-the-art climate models from the top international research and meteorological institutes. Finres then uses advanced statistical modeling and deep-learning methods to prioritize the adaptation measures that offer the best returns given the probability associated with different scenarios.
Is it really free?
Yes, this free version of AgHorizon was developed to empower farmers with the data they need to build their resilience. The data was calculated following an analysis by finres of the needs, costs and benefits of adaptation for agriculture in France to inform the latest national adaptation plan (PNACC3).
How else can this data be used?
Finres provides additional applications to provide decision-grade data tailored to support the range of actors across the agricultural value chain. To schedule a demonstration of these other applications, please contact us.
Can I provide feedback?
AgHorizon was developed following extensive consultation with farmers, cooperatives, and other stakeholders. Finres would like to acknowledge and appreciate the insights from these partners. We welcome feedback and new ideas so we can continue to improve AgHorizon and the other applications we are developing. Thank you for providing your feedback and comments to us.
